The third Era of Hope meeting for the Department of Defense (DOD) Breast Cancer Research Program (BCRP)
was held September 25-28, 2002 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
The Era of Hope 2002 meeting marked the 10th anniversary of the DOD BCRP, a leader in breast cancer
research funding. The meeting provided a forum for researchers in different fields and research areas to
share their ideas and identify promising new directions in breast cancer research. The participation and
perspectives of breast cancer survivors were uniquely incorporated into the meeting. The Era of Hope 2002
meeting provided an unprecedented opportunity to highlight the contributions of the DOD BCRP grantees in
pushing the boundaries and advancing discoveries in breast cancer research, and to reflect on promising,
innovative avenues of research for the upcoming decade.
Meeting Agenda and Proceedings
The meeting was organized around topics and research areas including Signal Transduction, Prevention, and Targets for Individualized Therapy.
