At the 6th Era of Hope conference held in August 2011 in Orlando, Florida, the Department of Defense (DOD) Breast Cancer Research Program (BCRP) sponsored the first Distinguished Predoctoral and Postdoctoral Poster Awards competition. This competition was open to recipients of fiscal year 2007-2009 Predoctoral Traineeship, Postdoctoral Fellowship, Multidisciplinary Postdoctoral, and Era of Hope Postdoctoral Awards. A total of 174 entries were received, and the abstracts were reviewed for scientific merit. During the conference, a panel of judges evaluated presentations by the competition finalists, and 11 predoctoral and 6 postdoctoral trainees were selected as winners of the Distinguished Poster Awards. The scientific excellence and impact of these research projects on breast cancer are testimony to the awardees' dedication to the BCRP's goal of eradicating breast cancer. The BCRP congratulates all of the Distinguished Poster Award winners and wishes them continued success in their scientific endeavors.
