In anticipation of the Fiscal Year 2005 (FY05) Defense Appropriations Act providing funding to the Department of Defense Prostate Cancer Research Program (PCRP), the PCRP announces the FY05 Clinical Trial Award Program Announcement to be released by June 23, 2004. This program is administered by the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command through the Office of the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP).
The intent of the Clinical Trial award is to support Phase I, I/II, or II clinical trials that have the potential to significantly impact the treatment, diagnosis, and detection of prostate cancer.
Applicants must be independent investigators.
The PCRP anticipates funding approximately five Clinical Trial awards. Funding for each award is $750,000 in direct costs, plus indirect costs, over a maximum of a 3 year period of performance.
Submission Deadline: The electronic submission process must be completed by the applicant and his/her institutional contracting representative by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, December 7, 2004 using the CDMRP Electronic Proposal Submission website: https://cdmrp.org/index.cfm.
Detailed descriptions of the evaluation criteria, submission requirements, and deadlines will be available in the relevant FY05 PCRP Program Announcement when released. The Program Announcement will be available for downloading from the CDMRP website, http://cdmrp.army.mil, and also available on the Electronic Proposal Submission website, https://cdmrp.org/index.cfm.
Additional FY05 PCRP Program Announcements are expected to be released in November of 2004.
Please note that funding for the FY05 Clinical Trial Award mechanism is subject to passage of the appropriate Congressional language and actual receipt of funding at this Command for these projects. However, based on this Command's knowledge of the appropriations history for these programs, it is believed that Congress will provide the funds for this project.
