Funding Opportunities for Fiscal Year 2011

The vision of the Department of Defense Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Research Program (DMDRP) is to extend and improve the function, quality of life and life span for all individuals diagnosed with DMD. This program is administered by the US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command through the Office of the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP).

The information in this pre-announcement is being provided to allow investigators time to plan and develop applications if funds should become available. This pre announcement should not be construed as an obligation by the government to provide funding.

Investigator-Initiated Research Award
  • Principal Investigator: Must be at or above the level of Assistant Professor (or equivalent)
  • Optional Qualified Collaborator: Must be at or above the level of Assistant Professor (or equivalent)
  • Fund translational research that will have an impact on extending and improving the function, quality of life and life span for all individuals diagnosed with DMD.
  • Preliminary data required
  • Optional Qualified Collaborator: Collaborations that meet the criteria outlined in the Program Announcement/Funding Opportunity will be qualified for a higher level of funding
  • Optional nested resident and medical student traineeships to provide mentored research opportunities in DMD
  • Clinical trials not allowed
  • Maximum period of performance is 3 years
  • Maximum allowable funding is $525K* in direct costs ($675K in direct costs if requesting an Optional Collaborator)
  • Indirect costs may be proposed in accordance with the institution's negotiated rate agreement
  • Nested traineeships: Additional maximum of $75K for residents and $55K for medical students in direct and indirect costs over a one-year period of performance

All applications must conform to the final Program Announcement/Funding Opportunity and General Application Instructions that will be available for electronic downloading from the Grants.gov website. The application package will be made available on the Grants.gov website if funds should become available.

A pre-application is required and must be submitted through the CDMRP eReceipt website (https://cdmrp.org) prior to full application submission. A list of all USAMRMC funding opportunities can be obtained on the Grants.gov website by performing a basic search using CFDA Number 12.420.
